This design project focuses on refurbishing an existing restaurant called “The Tara,” which in Thai means “River.” Located along the Chao Phraya River
Thailand’s most significant river, steeped in history and life along its banks the restaurant takes inspiration from its riverside setting.

The entryway of the restaurant is crafted to stand out from the surrounding buildings. Black stone in harmonious tones decorates the entry wall, while
The Tara’s bold logo creates a striking focal point. The walkway is designed as a floating block set on pristine white gravel, leading guests toward the river 
at the path’s end, creating a shifting rhythm that sets a reflective mood.

The dining area is divided into two main sections. The exterior dining area is designed to maximize views of the river, with the dining floor elevated in
cascading levels to address any obstructed views. Dark wooden flooring and dark gravel accents enhance the outdoor space. Steel columns frame the 
exterior, creating the impression of a room with sweeping views, giving the space prominence and a sense of openness.
The interior dining area is air conditioned and enclosed by transparent glass with slim aluminum frames to maintain the widest possible view. A dark gray
color scheme and minimalist decor lend the space a refined, understated ambiance. Cement beams are left exposed to preserve the sense of the original
building structure, while the walls feature a textured spray finish.

The design draws inspiration from the restaurant’s name, “River.” Behind the bar, glossy black tiles replace the river’s shimmering water with a sleek, graphical interpretation. The decorative elements aim to bring a refined, visual quality to the space, blending the concept of the river with the restaurant’s
modern, sophisticated aesthetic.
