This renovation project involves a second-hand house located in a village about 10 years old. This housing project stands out from other similar
developments, with its emphasis on greenery and simple geometric house forms. The house, originally in a dilapidated state, sits on a plot of approximately
89 square wa and is surrounded by two to three large trees. The homeowner wished to expand the space and update the interior to better suit their lifestyle.
Expansion 1: Parking Area, The homeowner, an avid car enthusiast, required additional parking space to accommodate their collection. The designer
expanded the parking area, using a garage door as the main entry and exit. This area connects seamlessly to the house’s entrance on the first floor, leading to
a shoe storage space, a living-dining area, and a pantry. This common area offers views of the surrounding garden, enhancing the connection with nature.
The pantry links to Expansion 2, which includes a Thai kitchen and laundry area located at the back of the house.
Expansion 2: Kitchen and Laundry Area, This expansion added a Thai kitchen and a laundry area at the rear of the house, providing additional functional
space to support the homeowner’s needs.
Expansion 3: Additional Room, Connected to the common area, Expansion 3 is a flexible space prepared to serve as a bedroom in the future. A staircase
leading to the second floor from the patio features a large window overlooking the trees. At the center of the house is a library room that opens to two
master bedrooms, positioned in the left and right wings of the house. Each bedroom has views of the surrounding trees and access to a spacious balcony,
fostering a close connection with nature.
Exterior Design, In the exterior design, the simplicity of the original structure was maintained. The designer chose to trim the roof’s eaves to align with the
wall line and removed the balcony railings to emphasize the geometric form. The bedroom extension was placed in an unused area, which was divided to
create a private garden space. This extension was pulled slightly away from the main house to provide greater perspective, connect the garden views, and
improve ventilation. The exterior maintains a simplicity that harmonizes with the neighboring homes, yet introduces subtle modern touches. Inside, the
decor is minimalist, with select pieces that reflect the homeowner’s personality.
