This project is a renovation of a 30 year old townhouse into a small office on a limited budget. The original building was fully extended, but the designer
removed all additional structures to create two parking spaces at the front and reorganize the layout.
The first floor is designed as a flexible open plan workspace, allowing for easy rearrangement or future expansion. This area connects to a pantry and a
small outdoor seating area. To maximize space efficiency, a bathroom is tucked under the stairs. The second floor houses the manager’s office and a storage
area, with an outdoor private garden screened by wooden slats to block unattractive views.
Simple materials were chosen for the decor. The facade is made from expanded metal, allowing views of the original building and blending with the
neighboring context. The wooden slat panels are made of artificial wood. The second floor’s original wooden structure was dismantled and replaced with steel. The first floor ceiling was removed to increase floor to ceiling height, revealing the original concrete beams. The ground floor features a PU self
leveling flooring system.
