The Khaoyai House is located in Pak Chong district, Nakhon Ratchasima province. Mr.Somsak Kaweesorasak, the owner, intends this home to serve as a
holiday retreat and, eventually, a place for long term residence after retirement.
Surrounded by mountains, the house is designed to maximize views from every angle. The two story layout includes a full range of amenities on the first
floor, including a living room, dining room, pantry, outdoor kitchen for entertaining, and a guest room. The second floor features a master bedroom,
daughter’s bedroom, and family room. Initially, the homeowner may not stay here regularly, so the architect selected low maintenance materials, like
patterned exposed concrete walls on the first floor and patterned brick walls on the second.
An open space at the back of the house offers a recreational area, complete with a swimming pool and a large terrace that connects the owner’s living area
with the guest area. The terrace provides an unobstructed view of the mountains, enhancing the atmosphere and creating natural ventilation throughout
the home.
At the front of the house, a spacious terrace connects to the family room on the second floor. This area is enclosed by glass windows, allowing for a
stunning view of the mountains. A spiral staircase links the activity area on the ground floor to the second floor. The house is oriented at a 20 degree
angle from the road to capture the best possible mountain views.
