KSB WORKSHOPS

This project is a factory building. Located at Rayong Province, Thailand. The building’s usable space is divided into two sections: an office and a factory. Before entering the building, the designer arranged a small tree court to create an atmosphere at the entrance and serve as the main view of the office area. The office is placed at the front with a reception and seminar room. Inside the office, the reception area is designed as a two-story open space to accept tree view that enhancing the working environment.

The tree court is designed with steel grid on top for hanging climbing plants and has an automatic spray watering system. When the water system work, the temperature in the upper part of the tree drops. Base from the ventilation system, cool air will be pulled in from the base of the tree and hot air will be expelled to the upper part, causing comfortable atmosphere around the employee’s rest area below the tree. This area can be connected to the pantry area in the office for more convenience to organize social activities.

201 AVENUE

The 201 Avenue project is a semi detached house consisting of four houses, eight units, and six stories. It is set on around one rai of land and is easily accessible to the city, as well as surrounded by many amenities such as supermarkets and restaurants. As a result, there are a lot of Home Offices in the neighborhood. The project’s owner saw the potential of the site and the viability of the idea and made it a reality.

To maximize the use of the property, the designer chose to put the road in the middle of the property, dividing the building into two sides, each with its own wall at every corner allowing for ventilation. The designer selected to open the view to the outside of the building in front of the project, which is adjacent to the public road, to promote the project’s appearance. Within the project, the other buildings are normally open to the view into the road.

The building’s function is separated into two parts: an office and a dwelling; each unit can park six vehicles to accommodate employees and visitors. The reception area on the first level is meant to welcome visitors to the business. The second level is the staff workspace, with a small balcony area for relaxation. The meeting room and executive room are located on the third level, which also offers an outside patio space. The fourth and upper level will be residential area prepared for living and dining room, while the fifth level will be the master bedroom with a walk-in closet that can be turned into a tiny bedroom if the buyer so desires. The sixth level is designated for a roof garden area with views of the sky and the city. There is a laundry room on this floor, which is also intended to prepare the sanitary work and structure load support to be able to add or modify the function, which may be added gym or bedroom more in the future.

The exterior of the building is created with clients in mind who want the building’s character to be tidy, cool, and highly masculine. The designer selected to use full height transparent glass in the workplace to showcase the interior environment and enhance the office’s modern appearance and used heat-resistant glass to lower the building’s energy consumption. The designer aimed to incorporate as much green space as possible into the layout to improve the working environment. An aluminum facade at the top of the building emphasizes the privacy of the houses by blocking sunshine and heat from the east and west. The facade enhances the quality of light and shadow that enters the building’s interior. Residents can open it to see a bigger view.

KUMPOY

Kumpoy is the name of restaurant that the owner established and brought in to meet with the designer before beginning work, and it is also the owner’s nickname. The owner grew up with a stove in the kitchen most of the time as a child, so she has learned a cookbook from her family, making her love to cook, especially spicy food, love the selection of raw materials, trying new flavors and become passionate about cook. When comparing the tastes of conventional northern meals, it will be like comparing a Chiang Mai girl who appears sweet, soft, and nice. The meal at Kumpoy is different, is a sour and spicy northern girl.

The interior design reflected the owner’s personality and using tastes. The designer picked the side that faces the public road outside to be the front of the business, ornamented with huge clear glass and emphasizing the leading line to open the view into the store. The kitchen is in the back of the store, close to be internal road, within the Block 28 project, and it employs huge clear glass to see the meticulousness of cooking and to prepare an additional food delivery channel for future delivery. The materials used to decorate and create the ambiance of the store, the designer wishes to incorporate as much of the owner’s identity as possible, whether it is a Chiang Mai native or the meticulous selection of natural products or powerful taste of cuisine. In contrast to conventional northern divisions. The designer picked “Bricks” to embellish the walls in the style of Chiang Mai’s old city wall. Visitors will have a unique experience as the bricks are rearranged into a fresh arrangement inspired by “Sinh”, a distinctive fabric of the local area.

The designer wants to bring red local soil to plaster to highlight natural materials and with bright colors to encourage design concepts on the floor and walls, but due to the durability of the material, it much be converted to a more durable material, such as red colored plaster. The plaster on the wall desires details that differ from the plaster on the floor. When plastering the designer combines “Straw” to allow diners to perceive the nuances of natural materials.

The kitchen is designed in a small area, and Northern food contains a lot of ingredients that must be cooked, making the kitchen appear tight. The kitchen wall is meant to be encircled by glass to decrease awkwardness for the chef while also allowing customers to witness the process and attention to cooking. A showcase of kitchen utensils that can be utilized in cooking is located above the kitchen. During cooking the kitchen counter is the most prone to become a mess, The designer provided a sticker to cover up some of the eyes. The pattern of the stickers is inspired by the intricate patterns of the northern mountain of Thailand, allowing guests to feel as much of the ambience and flavor that comes with the owner’s cooking aim as possible.

ROICHANG MARKET

Roi Chang Market opened shortly before the outbreak of COVID 19, causing the project to be directly affected. The designer was invited to solve the problems, replanning and developing the entire project, dividing the construction phase to be in line with the project’s investment cost.

Phase 1 is a refurbishment of an operated building that was original designed as a fresh market. The designer has redesigned the interior layout to become a food court, divided into areas for shops placed along the back of the building and front part is a dining area. The exterior façade was redesigned by using airy steel frame to let the building seems to be taller and reduce the burden of additional weight.  The overview of the building changed to be more modern and easier noticeable from the street. There is an additional building for commercial space along the road in front of the project that making this project look wider and larger. On the opposite of the Food court, there is a group of containers that have been prepared for restaurant or coffee shop with a middle garden view. As other sub-buildings that have had tenants, the designer added only the cover walkway to be in line with the main building and linked the same language.

There are 2 more phases coming later, Phase 2 is being prepared for shops and mini warehouses which will be placed on the main road of the project and Phase 3 will be the main building which could be a large fresh market or supermarket in the future.

RAMA 5 MARKET

Rama 5 Market is a traditional market in Nonthaburi. It has been in business for over 17 years and has a reputation for serving clean and high-quality food. The owner intends to reorganize the layout and rezone the stalls to transform them into a modern market.

The designer inspected the project and noticed that some of the original stalls had high shelves that obscured the general area, causing some sections to be abandoned and giving the market a lonesome appearance. The market's low opacity produces a dismal and depressing atmosphere. The existing market roof has a low structure, and in front of the project is a wide road with fast-moving traffic, making visibility impossible.

The designer solved the problem by redesigning a fresh layout, categorizing commodity zones, constructing stalls with the same materials to ensure cleanliness, and identifying the primary and secondary pathways. The main entrance was placed in the center of the building, near the parking lot, and connected to the main internal street, dividing the market into two sections. Section 1 is the non food area, which is a type of stall that people use less but is extremely necessary for the market, and it is linked to the food court section, which is heavily used, causing the food court to operate as a magnet, attracting people to pass through non food more frequently. The second section is the fresh market behind the market, which is a group of everyday users, and because this market is large, this type of traffic separation helps the market appear not too lengthy. Customers will walk less and with greater clarity in their selection.

The food court is the most populous function in front of the project and is always busy. This gives the entire project a dynamic appearance from the front. The food court's center has been transformed into a small garden to serve as a gathering space and to give a calm ambiance for individuals who come to dine and shop. To make it more apparent from the outside, the designer increased the height and color of the building in front of it. Steel materials of various lightweight sizes are chosen to minimize the load on the original structure while also allowing the building to appear more dimensional. The original roof is an antique that cannot be rebuilt. The designer decided to maintain it, repaint it, and cancel particular portions in order to convert it to a translucent roof that prevents heat from entering the building simply by picking the essential elements, such as the central garden and the major roadway, and so on.

All of these are improvements to make the market more modern and in keeping with today's lifestyles. Whether in terms of appearance, cleanliness, or neatness. But nevertheless, it offers easy access and is not as sophisticated as the previous market.

SMARTMATT ASA 2022

SMARTMATT exhibition booth at the Architect Fair 2022 (ASA), the event was back this year after being postponed for two years due to the COVID 19 issue. Therefore, the project owner wanted to create a warm atmosphere to welcome back the event and re-meet the customers.

The impact of pandemic made widespread work from home. As a result, there was high demand on home makeovers. The designer therefore used a “Model” as the starting point for creating designs that fulfill homeowners' dreams. It was intended to resemble a large house model so that customers may enter and experience their own aspirations. The base of the booth was raised continuously like a model contour to create a clear view from the walkway. Each contour level was high enough to serve as a seating. It was decorated with beanbags and tree sculptures, and there was a slide on the side for children to enjoy.

Contour seating areas are designed to be parallel to the ASA resting point, that was also covered by the project owner’s booth. It connected the space to represent an inviting and friendly atmosphere for event attendees.

CHERCHARN STUDIO

“Chercharn Studio” is a rental studio for photo, video, film production or event services. The Character is designed in a modern Scandinavian style, with functions that can be adjusted according to the requirement of the tenants. The word “Cher” in Thai language means “tree” and “Charn” means “courtyard” when put them together, it means “Courtyard surrounded by trees” then the environment of the land really matched the project name. The shape of the land is a rectangular and surface is clear and flat. The backdrop is covered with huge trees which is hard to find in a city.

Our design starts from something that already exists in context, namely a big tree. Before designing, we specify the exact tree position for the accuracy of the desired view. In this building, the designers wanted to design the order of access and the form of various views looking into the trees, which will be revealed progressively consecutively, similar to how each scene of the movie gradually reveals the tale.

From the reception, the designer squeezed the view narrow and high with solid walls on both sides, showing a little green space at the end of the eye to adjust the mood before leading into the next scene. When entering the interior area, you will find the main room were designed with a long but low perspective, where the designer intends to change the mood from the previous scene. Before going any farther inside, there is a scene with a full tree and a huge glass, which relieves the feeling of being blocked out to focus on the main tree. After that, the designer created the space to connect with the external balcony area so that people may go out and touch the real tree at this point. On the other side of the main room, the view on the 2nd floor open to the full width of the room, only the sky can be seen. It is another scene that the designer intended to resemble a picture of the sky that accents the space and changes with the passage of time.

Before the scene of the kitchen, there is a point that changes the mood as well. The architect created an open view so that both the front and back may observe the outside landscape. The kitchen is designed as an open plan that connects to the outdoor seating area for outdoor activities. The outdoor chairs are place close to nature and under the main tree. This space has the best exterior views since daily light and shadow fall on the walls and through the trees, making it the most useful area of the project. Above from the previous space is bedroom. In this room, the main tree and the surrounding landscape can be seen from a higher and wider perspective which makes them appear more intriguing and charming at the same time.

R65 HOUSE

This house serves as both the designer's residence and office, and it all started with the design question, "What kind of house do I want?" from being a designer who must investigate the homeowner's needs, preferences, and habits in order to obtain design work that meets the customer's needs as much as possible.

I can find an answer to the question, and I like the simplicity with hidden details, unpretentiousness, and humility, until I discovered the Japanese philosophy of "Wabi sabi," which partially corresponds to the meaning we wanted to design this house with. I'm still looking for the meaning of "Wabi sabi" in interesting ways and perspectives. Whether it is to appreciate the beauty of nature as it is, to appreciate the beauty that has changed over time, to minimize the unnecessary to reveal something hidden, to use space that is not superfluous and to live simply, etc.

The front of the house is designed to recede into the land’s longest side to provide parking for employees and visitors. The floor was designed with gravel rather than concrete to reduce the hardness of the floor and make it look less like a parking lot. The parking line is divided by the tall trees in front of the house on the east side. The east wall is designed to be solid from the outside to provide privacy and prevent heat from entering the building. Sunlight shines on the walls every morning at sunrise, casting shadows and creating images of light and trees along the walls. Residents will admire and experience the light and shadow on the specially plastered, semi-handcrafted walls in that smoothness every morning. I think the dimension of shadows moving with the wind or with the time of day is beautiful.

There are office and parking lots on the ground floor. The house's center was designed as a tree court that opened to the sky. This is the main view from office, which can be seen as a large bonsai with an oblique line leading the eyes to the sky. Only during the midday hours will sunlight shine through the leaves and down to the gravel floor below. Another thing that I think is very beautiful and will only be able to experience during that time is this.

The natural wind direction is through the back of the house, which is designed as a wind tunnel from the back to the front. Residents will be able to feel the natural wind before entering the house, where most of the living space is air-conditioned. Because of the natural wind, the staircase was designed to be placed in the southwest. A fixed glass louver at the bottom of the stairs absorbs and disperses wind into the building.

The rooftop is intended to be a place to plant a garden that will be used in the house. Residents will have the opportunity to reconnect with nature, experience the soil, cultivate, and slow down. These are uncommon in city life. The other side of the rooftop is set up as an outdoor dining area, with the edge of the wall raised to obscure the view of the surrounding environment. The only thing visible was the surrounding sky, which changed colors depending on the time of day.

The interior of this house is designed to use the least amount of space possible. The area inside this house is approximately 350 square meters, with an office area of 110 square meters on the first floor, accommodating 10 employees, and a manager's room that can be converted into a meeting room for 6 people. The house on the second floor has a living-dining room, kitchen, and three bedrooms, with a total usable area of approximately 190 square meters. A 50-square-meter gym and prayer room are located on the third floor. There are 7 residents in the residential section.

Everything, whether it's a way of life that allows us to simplify our identities as designers or residents. The ability to sense and appreciate one's surroundings. Finding meaning in our lives or eliminating the unnecessary. These are helpful to me as I explore my mind.

This project is part of the commercial design for the Bangchak gas station in Songkhla province. The project owner wished to make this project to unique and different. The designer has researched the area and discovered an old town that was once an important trading port. It has outstanding architecture in the "Sino-Portuguese" style, which is a fusion of Chinese and Portuguese art. There is a front pavement area known as "Arcade," European-style stucco arched window frames, and ancient Chinese clay tiles, all of this is a very beautiful and historic Songkhla architecture.

The research discovered something intriguing. The designer deems the management of inside space, as shown in the cross section of the building, to be "more magnificent" than the "Sino façade." The courtyard separates the commercial and residential spaces. It serves as a transition space and aids in ventilation. According to the designer, this space is a private or hidden space that only the owner or a guest of the house has the permission to see or access. In fact, no one has seen this view; only those who look at the drawing will be able to see it.

The designer used the cross section to create the project's main language, intended to present the "Sino Portuguese" style from an unexpected angle. Bring the language of the old façade to life by incorporating modern materials such as steel and glass, as well as incorporating beautiful details from the original building while making it look more modern. The façade is designed to appear separate from the window. The building's longitudinal design emphasizes clear glass to allow visibility of the activity inside. The walkway in front of the building connects all the buildings with an "arcade" in the original architecture style. Instead of just using the old façade, the designers wanted project users to experience the style of "Sino Portuguese" in a fresh way.

THE TARA RESTAURANT

It is a design to refurbish an existing restaurant. The restaurant is called "The Tara," which is Thai meaning "River." The Chao Phraya River, Thailand's primary river with a long history of people living by the water, is where the restaurant is situated.

The restaurant's entryway is made to stand out from the surrounding buildings. Black stone with matching colors is used to decorate the entry wall. The Tara's logo boldly highlights the entry from the surroundings. The restaurant's walkway is imagined as a floating block on the snow-white gravel. When you walk and then see the river as the end of the path, the rhythm alters your mood.

The dining space is divided into two main sections. The exterior is designed to maximize views of the river and solve the problem of obstructed views, elevate the dining area's floor to a cascading height in each section, dark wooden floors and dark-washed gravel were used in the outdoor decorations. The exterior steel column creates the impression of a room with a vista that surrounds it and encourages it to be more prominent. The interior is air-conditioned, uses transparent glass, and has a thin aluminum section frame to prevent blocking the widest possible view The color scheme and decoration focus a lot on dark gray tones to provide the space a sober appearance. Cement beams were left in place to represent that the structure was originally a building, and the walls were painted with spray texture. the design was inspired by the restaurant's name, "River." Instead of the shimmering water surface, glossy black tiles are placed behind the bar. The decorative elements make efforts to make the pattern more graphical.

AMPHAWA HOUSE

This house is in the Amphawa District, Samut Songkhram Province. On approximately 2.5 rai of land, 30 meters of land width, nearby Mae Klong River which is the most important river in the existence of the Amphawa people. The back of the land has an entrance road, that is surrounded by neighboring coconut groves, appears to be quite shady and natural. Due to the relatively narrow width of the land and the view to the river is limited. Both of the neighbors' houses on the left and right are built close to the river. The designer picked a layout that leaves the space in front of the river as a green yard, enlarging the view inside the house to increase the distance between the owner's house and the river in order to minimize the uncomfortable feeling. The house's long side is oriented to allow views of the river and natural airflow from the south and north. The extraction side of the house has thick solid walls to reduce sun’s heat that enters the structure.

Historically, the river served as the principal route for transportation and commerce. It is still in use today, although its use has been limited in accordance with the times. The designer positioned the front of the residence faces the river, while the rear faces the road. The interior road is constructed as a curve from the entry road, gradually adjusting the eye view into the home and parking. Before entering the house, you can walk through “Long hallway” where the end of the eye focuses on the Mae Klong River. It is designed to function as a "wind tunnel," allowing wind to flow through from the north and south. This creates a pleasant atmosphere for using this space as an outdoor dining and relaxing area near the river. It is also placed parallel to the swimming pool and perpendicular to the Mae Klong River. The pool's far end is designed as an overflow edge. It appeared to be the river's surface flowing into the house's tree court. Water from the river seems to pour inside and connect to the interior space, giving origin to life, as the phrase goes "The Mae Klong River is the life of the Amphawa people”. There is a stairway in the tree court that provide access to the swimming pool from within the house, linking the view of the water surface with the river as though swimming into the Mae Klong River.

This residence has a useable area of approximately 1,000 square meters, consisting of a living and dining room designed as an open space on the 1st floor with the best widest view of the lawn and river. It is connected to the “Long hallway” and “Kitchen”, where the kitchen is placed as the heart of the house to link the dining area and also connect to long hallway and pool when there is outdoor socializing. At the waterfront, there is a mooring space, a gym and a guest room, separated from the main house in order to maintain privacy. The central section of the 2nd floor is designed as a family room for watching TV and relaxing before night. This room has a view of the tree in the center court, a skylight above, and a swimming pool, and it functions as the passageway to the master and children's bedrooms. From the master bedroom, there is a river view and a view to 1st floor living area, both of which are related. This house is designed to be modern, yet in a contemporary Thai style. Using a wide open glass to emphasize the visual sight. A long hallway with teak wood on both the floor and ceiling. Its column captures the early light's shadow as it reflects off the pool. The roof conceals ventilation beneath the eaves. All of these are intended to convey a sense of tropical architecture while focusing on the more modern and comfortable.

NOBLE GEO HOUSE

This second hand house renovation project is located in an old village about 10 years old. It is a housing project that is quite outstanding from other similar types of village which emphasizes the atmosphere of trees and simple geometric house form. The house is in a dilapidated condition inside the land area approximately 89 sq. wa. There are 2 to 3 big trees around the house. The homeowner would like to expand the area and adjust the new interior function to match their lifestyles.

Expansion 1, Parking area. The owner of the house loves and collects many cars. The designer therefore expands additional parking area. Using the garage door as an entry exit. Then connect this space to the entrance of the house on the 1st floor and shoe storage, living dining area, including pantry area as well. It is a common area of this house opening the view to the surrounding garden. The pantry is connected to the Expansion 2. It is a Thai kitchen and laundry area at the back of the house. Expansion 3 connects to the common area which is prepared for bedroom in the future. The staircase to 2nd floor at the patio opens a large window to the trees. In the middle of the house is a library room that spread out into 2 Master Bedrooms left and right wing of the house, it can also open view to the trees and large balcony outside to get close to nature.

Exterior design with the simplicity of the original. The designer chose to cut off the eaves of the roof to equal to the wall line and cut off the balcony to emphasize the geometry form more prominently. The bedroom extension is placed on the empty area, by dividing this area into two parts to create an enclosed garden space. Pull out the bedroom extension from the main house to increase the perspective connecting of the gardens and increase the ventilation too. The exterior designed to be simple in accordance with the context neighbors. But there are still more modern differences. The interior is decorated simply, few pieces reflect the identity of the owner.

MANEEYA HOUSE

This house started from the owner who wants to expand the area of original house located in the housing estate. The owner has been living in this house since starting their family. Until now they gradually expanded side and back land to build a second house connected to the first one.
They also built a small office and arranged all buildings surround the middle garden. As the time passed, the first house became smaller in accordance with the family members who grew up. Therefore, the owner required to renovate the house by using original structure and extended the house to the front land in order to have maximum usefulness. Meanwhile organizing new living space to suit the growing members as well.
The appearance of the house has been completely changed from the original.

The designer designed a new living space with limitation of original structure. Position the wall to hide the column structure of original building and open view to the garden area in the middle of land as much as possible. Adding elderly bedroom on the 1st floor and designed common space as an open plan but the kitchen can be closed when cooking. This common area is connected to an outside patio that connects to another house.
It is a continuous area for outside recreational activities.

On the 2nd floor, the stair hall opened the view to the backyard with a large window. Two bedrooms for both children were in the original structure area of the house. Allocated the master bedroom into a new extension area. There was clear window glass all sides of this room for opening panoramic tree views that owner admired. It’s like a picture frame to visually explore the surroundings every morning. The front of the house facing west, so designer put the aluminum wood slat to filter the natural light and heat from outside. Light and shadow added charm to the interior space. The aluminum wood slat exposed a unique identity to the exterior. The original roof has been demolished to change the shape and form of the new building following owner’s requirements.

GARAGE HOUSE

The owner of this house has a fondness of cars since he was young and has a passion for automobile careers. Until one day he opened his own garage and became a professional racing driver. Hereupon, he needed to build their own house and a garage in 420 sqm of land together but can be properly separated.

This building is designed to divide the usable area into 2 parts according to the requirement of the owner. On the wide side of the land is the garage to support the accessibility of the car, while the narrow side is a residential area. These two parts are designed to be clearly separated from each other. Cut apart by a solid wall which blocks sound and view. Furthermore, it also helps separating mass apart to increase ventilation and privacy of residential areas.

There is a small garden at the entrance of residential area that connects to the 1stfloor terrace. Living – dining room and kitchen are open plan which open view towards to the garden. On the 2nd floor, a hidden balcony that can see from the staircase hall is an area for more natural light and good ventilation to the bedrooms. The garage can accommodate 7 cars and has the owner office on the 1st floor to maintain the service. There is a side ladder connected to the spare parts storage area on the 2nd floor and a small elevator to transport.

Since the garage facing west, the designer presses the eaves lower to reduce sunlight in the afternoon and uses shutter door to filter light in the evening when the sun titled at a lower degree. Besides that, using a transparent heat protection roof at the garage to reduce heat entering the building and add the natural light into this area. The shape of the building and materials that designer chose to use such as concrete texture, black steel or exposed pipes are mostly match and reflect the owner’s identity.

MT HOUSE

This project started from the clients aim to build a ‘small house’ in an approximately 100 sqm. (10x10 meters) space to accommodate a complete and comfortable living space for two people. The client requested two parking spaces, shoes closet, living and dining room, pantry, Thai kitchen, laundry room, one bedroom, each closet for the couple, and a bathroom. The scheme aim to provide a space with thoughtful and efficient design.

From the brief, the architect allocated each function to takes up minimum space, while prioritizing the comfort for the user. Through planning, each area is positioned side by side with a central circulation space to maximize the use of space, spaces are divided into two types, private and semi-private.

To allow for natural ventilation the architect separated the mass of the building from each other to create a wind path through the building. The central space separating the two massing block is a wooden terrace courtyard with a tree and a view into the building, a space for relaxation. The building is covered with a simple gable roof and the terrace covering is provided by translucent skylight which brings natural light into the courtyard and interior space. The translucent skylight also enables use of the terrace area in the rainy season.

The house is built on a large plot of land, surrounding by greenspace. Within the scheme areas surrounding the house is sprinkled with gray gravel, which requires low maintenance and prevents weeds from surfacing. By using gravel finish on the parking space creates a sense of continuity with the landscape and the house itself. From the parking space, users can move through the foyer with a small shoe room, before entering the house. The living room is an open space that can be used to relax, dine, prepare meals and brew coffee. This space opens out to the view courtyard, with an adjacent door near the pantry leading to the kitchen and laundry room. A sliding door between the living space and kitchen is utilized to block out any smell.

From the courtyard there is a door leading to the bedroom. The bedroom features a raised platform to serve as a futon bed, to make the room look as clear as possible without any objects blocking the eyes. From the bed, trees are always visible. The bedroom is also designed as a circulation space to the closet and the closet connected to the bathroom. The male closet is designed with two entrances, one from the bedroom and the other one from the terrace for the guests to enter the bathroom. To maintain a privacy, when guests enter the bathroom the sliding door will automatically close off access to the bedroom. The bathroom is designed with a large window in upper region to provide views out to the trees while maintaining privacy and obstructs the eyes from the outside.

TAE HOUSE

When family members grow, the surroundings changes afterwards. As well as members of this house, they decided to demolish 2 out of 3 old houses and built a new bigger house instead. The original 1-storey house was replaced by a new 3-storey house with 790 square meters of usable area, designed to accommodate approximately 12 people with various ages on a land size of 100 square wah.

With limitation space, the building is designed to fit the land area and the internal space must be designed both of horizontally and vertically circulation to save space as possible to support function for all family members. The main circulation was placed in the middle of the building to distribute access to various areas as efficiently as possible. 1st Floor car park area designed for 6 cars. There were maid’s room and laundry room at the back of the house. Right wing of the house is living and dining room with opening windows for wind blows from the south toward north and to be able to take the garden view.
On the second floor there was a common room with high ceiling, where anyone can lounge and having family party. This second privacy living room was designed to access to 4 bedrooms. The Third floor is the top floor, there were 2 master bedrooms on the left and right wing. There were also small bedroom and Buddha room in the middle of this floor that can be connected to living room on the second floor.

L18 HOUSE

This project is located on Ladprao road in Bangkok. It is a renovation of an over 30 years old townhouse inside the village. Neighborhoods had to be gradually renovated due to good location in town then the land prices increased rapidly, so it’s worth the cost of renovation. The main problem of this house is the 1st floor level is nearly road level and the drainage system of the village is not good. Whenever the rain comes, the water floods the road in front of the house and kitchen area because it could not be released to the public drain. The furniture in the original kitchen must be lifted and used as a semi outdoor style for easy cleaning. There are a lot of dividing walls in living space so the natural light, ventilation and cooling system are not good.

Designer modified the living space due to family growth. At the 1st floor, adjusting the position of parking lots and adding the elderly bedroom and bathroom in the front of the house. The living and dining room space are connected for airy and more convenient. Adding natural light to the kitchen room in the back. For the 2nd floor, enlarging all bedrooms’ layout and changing the original balcony which is not being used cause a leakage problem to be bedroom area instead. Changing new material and new sanitary ware of the bathroom but cannot change layout and sizing due to limitation of structure. Adding 2nd floor balcony for drying clothes, which is designed as battens to get wind and sunlight from a translucent roof all day. Solving flood problems by elevated a ground floor and designed new rainwater drainage system in order to let all rainwater flow out in front of the house so that the kitchen area becomes the inside space without worrying about flooding. The roof uses original roofing materials with insulation. All aluminium glass uses heat protection glass to reduce heat problems in the house.

Located at Mapthraputh district, Rayong province which most of the area are factory site. By having industrial estate and divided out into external land. Exion Workshops is the factory located at outside of industrial estate by the surrounding environment is clear, consist of some agriculture zones and residences.

The architect received a task from project owner to do a Layout. The project wanted to determine the size of factory building or operation building which consist of 24 meters width and 48 meters depth. It is the standard of factory to reduce construction cost and is the most suitable size for the operation. The architect then selected to fit as much building as possible which will use to build in near future. The plan area, architect placed 3 operation buildings by leaving the front area for parking lot and office and prepare the backside of the project for the accommodation of some workers.

For the first floor of office building will be reception, designed to be in front next to parking section to allow visitors inside the building. Coming inside will be a stairs hall which connect the operation area and second floor office. Stairs hall’s partition built up from glass to allow the vision through trees. The stairs inside building are steel structure emphasized in porosity in order to be eyeresting area for the staffs while contacting with different sections inside the building. The second floors area are prepared to be office area, consist of manager room, conference room, and staff room. The front and back partition are open vision with huge glass to allow vision for the front tree and views of main tree of the projects behind. The workshop was prepared to be standard factory upon the need of project’s owner. Without air-conditioning system by focusing on height in order to provide the convenience in operation and to cool the heat from the roof.

The shape of the buildings, architects emphasize in the office segment which need to be contrast with all of the factory building behind. By designing the building to look pop and float from the factory building in order to look like the same piece. Furthermore, it used the factory building as a background only. Using the steel structure to create a box form. The glass box floating out of the frame of the box form to emphasize the vision of second floor office as a main building of the project.

N24 CLASSIC HOUSE

This project is a renovated classic house located in 2 rai of land. The house is lifted up about 2 meters higher than external public road, surrounded by a large garden. The main entrance is a long ramp from public road to the front yard parking lots.

Initially, the owner assigned architect to design a small building as an extension of the main house in order to create enclosed space courtyard in front of the parking lot. This small building is built for visitor. The 1st floor is a reception and recreation area connected to the outdoor terrace and swimming pool, there is also one bedroom in the back, and the 2nd floor is a multipurpose room.

The architect designed composition and selected material of the small building in accordance with the characteristics of the main building. Later, the owner wanted to renovate the main house to look more modern but must still be classical as before which is owner’s favorite style. Then, architect analyzed the main house and diminished lines and elements of an architecture. In order to be simple and monotone, material such as stone tile is chosen to cover the exterior of the building for easy maintenance, change aluminum frame, the base of the house used a dark grey stone. Therefore, architect adjusted the materials of the small building again to harmonize with the main building in modern classic style surrounded by large tree garden. Completely eliminate the chaos from the outside.

EXION OFFICE

Located on Soi Prasert Manukitch 25, Bangkok. The project’s surrounding land use is mostly wasteland and dwelling area. The opposite land is a Body Repair & Maintenance Car Garage. Adjacent to the site are cement plant and wasteland. The land plot has two deeds, with one being a square shape and the other a trapezoid shape. The frontage faces towards the west. With Thailand’s tropical climate, design challenge may derive especially with glass or translucent materials.

The Project owner required usable area of approximately 4,000 square meters consisting office and reception lounge. The materials of this project are simple and easy to maintain. The designer allocate the space by arranging usable area of the building according to project owner’s needs. The project’s ground floor is designated to be parking space and MEP room.

The building’s massing is separated into two large blocks in order to create a central court landscape for the views. To provide shades at the project, the designer has emphasized on utilizing green space.

The west and east walls of the building have been designed as solid concrete to block heat from entering the building. On the other side, the northern and southern walls have no concern over heated, and therefore have been designed using glass façade to maximize the views. The entrance walls have been designed bring the main approach into sight. Additionally, the fitness room on upper floor features a high level city view.

DONPHROM MARKET

“Donphrom Market” is a small, old fresh market in Bang Yai area. Opened since contextes around market area is still wide field. Until now, the city and prosperity expanded into. Due to the market has been opened for a long time, so the building is old and worn down. The project manager is also changed to a new generation, therefore, the idea to renovate the building is changed to be new and more modern accordingly.

The purpose of the owner is to adjust the environment and atmosphere of entire market by using original steel structure and roof as it’s suitable for investment. Repair only the damaged roof, adjust the facade of the building, reallocate the trade stall layout, rearrange new eletrical and sanitary system. While the market must not be closed during renovation process to support the venders by using the construction management properly to improve the building. The project is divided into 3 areas. The first area is fresh market section. There are 7-11 shop in the corner. Inside is fresh market for food and groceries. The second area is behind the market. Divided into the vendor’s storage room, restroom and parking lots. The third area is a commercial building, designed to be shops at ground floor, the upper floor is a dormitory.

The main structure is still the original steel structure, so the most concern thing is the weight of new facade that has to be installed with original structure. The architect intends to design the elevation image of the façade exposed magnitude in shade and shadow, change according to time period. The designer choose steel frame, cement board and pvc pipe to arrange the pattern in a long panel for contrasting with the lively of the market below. The inside market using house formed steel frame to separate the boundaries of the trade stall. All steel structures are painted in light color for comfortable ambiance. The commercial building requires a facade to cover the balcony of dormitory as it is used for washing area of each room. The designer choose punctured transparency panel for decoration to prevent the balcony becoming too dark and allow fresh air to flow inside. It’s been designed to be consistent and harmonize as part of the market.

SMARTMATT ASA 2018

This project is exhibition booth design for “Vinyl floor tiles” which exhibited at the Architect Expo’ 2018. The owner wanted to have a new style special display and would like to see it as an art show because most of visitors are designers.

The designer therefore developed method to find interesting way to present the products. Starting by cut the vinyl floor tiles into many triangular shapes, types and sizes, then selected and formed each appropriate one to be passages way and hills. The flat areas were walkways, while sloping areas were made for visitors viewing and touching products. The circulation is circular and there is only one way for entrance and exit. Visitors can pass under the partition to watch the product’s VDO presentation inside the black box. The ceiling and backdrop made from the strain black canvas to reflect the interior space. The side of the booth used a stain white canvas to allow lighting from inside throughout. Canvas gaps below leave space for attracting attention from outside and be able to see products. The triangle gab at the entrance designed for emphasize the gate of the booth.

FOODVILLA MARKET

“Food Villa Market Project” is located at Ratchapruek Road which is the expansion area of Bangkok. The road builds for the link between Bangkok’s Central Business District and living zone. Food Villa Market serves the need of local community with the combination of marketplace and bazaar. Normally, market in Thailand will be dark, muddy & wet walkway, and improper ventilation. Vision of the owner of the project is to build Food Villa Market to be the new standard of marketplace in Thailand.

Ultimate land area of the project is approximately 25,000 sq.m. with 4 main building areas which are Marketplace of 4,000 sq.m. for 400 stalls, 2 storey for restaurant and life styles shops,  24 hour supermarket and Starbucks Drive Thru, and Pet & Plants zone.

The project starts in 2013 and the Marketplace is now ready to serve community on early 2015. Design concept of the project was inspired by the owner with the concept of “Food Villa for our community” to get acquainted with the neighborhoods in public. Thus, position of the design needs to be in the middle of modern department store and Thai’s primitive market.

The architect harmonizes the design of barns and farmhouses form merging each unit together in an order. Wide flange steel is the main structure of Marketplace. Metal Sheet is another main facade material the architect designed to be a translucent face to let the natural light go through and glow inside out at night. Air ventilation is one of the vital issues for marketplace, the ventilation gap is set in two layers, at the top of gable roof itself and between the split levels of each roof as appears in the elevation.

The ultimate ambience of Food Villa can lay in 3 pillars which are clean, relay, and being a part of the community. Mood n’ tone inside shops are cozy style full by artificial wood, top with black mosaic, and let shop owners do the rest in order to let the disarrangement of stuffs remain to represent the ambience of local Thai market.

WCRP HOUSE

Located at Watcharapol Soi 3, Chonchop Thantawat Village.
The client has been living in this village with parents since he was young. When the family extentes, he want to build new house on a new land.

This house was larger than before for accommodating and supporting new family members. The Layout of the building has been designed following the wind’s direction. As in front of the land is heading south, and the natural wind of Thailand is mostly come from the south. Designer therefore placed the longitudinal building to block the wind’s direction and placed the building close to back side of the land. Intentionally left wide green area in front of building to open the view and be a part of outdoor activities.

The wide green area was connected to the swimming pool, poolside terrace and outdoor activity area. All areas were prepared for children, grandchildren, grandparents or friends to do activities together.

The first floor of the house consisted of living room, dining room and pantry for preparing food which connected to the poolside terrace for supporting outdoor activities. There were home theater room and one bedroom on the first floor for guest. It could be a bedroom for client’s parents in the future. The second floor, there were two large master bedrooms for client and his parents and also one medium bedroom in the middle of the house for his sister. At middle of the building, there was an open space connecting areas from second floor corridor to the fist to bring in fresh air for good ventilation. All areas of this house could take advantage of natural winds.

N24 HOUSE

The project started from the idea that the owner is looking for more living space in the future and existing home with parent may not able to answer. After he is looking back through time,
the old house that the owner growth up and belong to his parent is not yet sold, locate in the same village, and surrounding with good neighbor. That is where the project begins. The old house is one and half duplex with the mixed between wood and concrete, facing down south and having good air circulation throughout the entire house. He decided to fresh start the project by removes the existing house and start his passion from the ground up. The first request he brief to the architecture is best possible air circulation, and the second request is he love to see 45 degrees rooftop because the design speak out the harmony between modern and Thai design in his view.

After providing both concepts the architect tone down the rooftop design by split the house into 2 modules in order to create a better mass of 45 degrees rooftop. The rooftop of the left module reflects modern design with flat rooftop, and the right module covers with 45 degrees rooftop design. The idea helps overall design of the house and reflect stacking of mass and better shape of the house.

View is another matter of the design. Location of the house is surrounding with 30 years old houses, and not many angles for good views. The architect solved this matter by creates small open spaces in a few zones inside the house in order to bring the light in from the top. This would bring shed of the sun during the day and privacy over the night. Another highlight area of the home is living and dining room which is the largest space of the house with the maximum possible view surrounding with outdoor garden and garage. One of the owner passions is to collect vintage cars and he would please to look at the cars from the living room. Thus, the architect created vintage car view from the living area for him for his personal enjoyment. That is the begin story and concept to bring this compact house to home.

N135 HOUSE

This house is inside an old village more than 30 years old, located in the suburb of Bangkok. The village's layout is interesting as there is a swimming pool surrounded by large trees of central garden. It's rare in new development project nowadays. This House has been renovated from the old structure that has been abandoned more than 10 years. It is a house with 2-storey and mezzanine.

The original space on the 1st floor is designed for 1 parking, maid room, bathroom, living room and backyard. The 2nd floor plan was dining room and kitchen. And the 3rd floor, there were 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.The designer changed all functions and appearance of the house. The mechanical system was completely reinstalled. On the 1st floor, new interior layout and space is expanded to be a small car park. The maid’s room is replaced by a kitchen. Living room and Dining room are combined into one lager area. The backyard is changed to be terrace with gym room. Both of these parts provided the village’s central garden view. The fence is designed to be vertical garden for privacy and cut-off the unattractive views, leftover the greenery scene.

Mezzanine area is designed as working and reading room with tree view. On the 3rd floor, the designer added 1 more bedroom and Buddha room into the limitation space. Each bedroom is small size but fit for comfortable sleeping. Related to the sizing, each bedroom had the maximum window size to gain view of trees surrounded. The most area in the middle of the house is dark and dim. This is one disadvantage of the townhouse that the designer tried to solve by using transparent skylight for brighten up and bring in natural light.

BANGCHAK SINO

Based on the context of existing. Feel the intention to make a home for their children. Material and classic home style inspired by parent’s passion. There were also Thai traditional house existing in the same site. The father is a wooden lover. While his son prefer modern style house.

It will cause irrelevant connections in the same area. Concept of design, façade of building keep the main shape, form, rhythm of column, groove pattern from original building. By reducing some classical details, removing the front and top eaves then adding new material such as glasses and wall stone to be more modern. Interior space has been developed for effective usability. Previous building were divided into separate rooms connected by corridors. Designer emphasized open plan space to connect living area at each point of the house for comfortable daily life.

BANGCHAK SINO

ILDS OFFICE

This project is a renovation of 30 years old townhouse to be a small office with limit budget. The original building is extended full area. The designer demolishes all additional spaces, rearrange function and make 2 parking lots at the front.

Inside space on the 1st floor is prepared to be working area. It is an open plan for easy relocation or expansion of space. Besides, it is connecting to a pantry with a small outdoor resting area. There is a bathroom under the stair for the most efficiency space. The 2nd floor area is for manager’s room and storage. There is a private garden in outdoor area. Wood slats is used for blocking unattractive view outside.
